I was out shooting the other day, and I felt up to it to do a little experimenting. What I was rockin’ was fairly simple, so I felt it necessary to change the vibe of the photo up a bit by using somewhat of a ‘not-your-everyday’ stance.
To my surprise , that one little thing drew more attention to the photo than I’d anticipated ..that’s dope. Now if I were Asian, this [pose] would most likely just be written off and subconsciously understood as: “Oh, he just on some Asian shit.” But since I’m not (clearly, lol) ..it makes a lot of people think: “Wait, did he just do that? ..Is he allowed to do that?” I love it. This is Art; Not Math! That’s the beauty of it, there are no limitations or parameters as to what can and can not be done. Now, It’s perfectly normal for all of us to draw the line somewhere as far as what we ourselves can comfortably do, but I feel that more people (especially those who claim themselves as ‘artists’) need a bit of a lesson in creative thinking. Art is creation ..creation, obviously requires some sort of creativity. How do you expect to be a ill creator if you define what you’re allowed to do by what has already been done? ..I’m not trying to be on some Socrates shit, I’m just sayin’ ..if more people thought outside of the lines a bit more often, then maybe we would stop hearing/seeing so much of the same-lame-shit.
