I was fortunate enough to make my way across the border yet again for Toronto Fashion Week. Yesterday evenin’ Yvonne and I went out to the Betsey Johnson Show at Brent. The joint was quite crowded, or should I say..full of potential. Gotta love Toronto’s diversity!

She Wants The World Update: "I Know"

I got a call out of the blue the other day to step in the studio for a bit with one of my good friend’s Dad’s friends to do one of the piano tunes off of the She Wants The World Acoustic EP titled: 88s And Heartbreak. I hadn’t had the chance to really practice performing it in a lil over a week or so, but I’m quite satisfied with the way this demo turned out.

Have you ever had a girl that you were just friends with, but she was extra cool and the 2 of you seemed to mesh so well? Only, she had a boyfriend that treat her like shit..and she would do everything that she could to hold on to him..and the worst part was, you never could say anything about how you really felt because that would overstep the boundaries of your “friendship”..yeah, it was something like that..

It was just me, a piano, and a microphone.. so of course some parts are a lil rough around the edges.. some of the dynamics were left out, and some of the voicings aren’t exactly as I wrote them, but only I would notice that..

Remember when I told you, you’d have to expect the unexpected?

..At the universally accredited University Of Life, I actually major in Music and minor in Dancin’..I used to try to triple major everything.. Music, Bboyin’, Video Games..(yeah, video games).. but I remember, one day I stumbled across a phrase that I won’t soon forget..

Fashionable X Trendy: "..just get a G-Shock"

I know at least a few people were wondering what was in the box..

It was my Kisai Denshoku Watch..

There are 12 bars that light up in 3 different instances..Once for the hours, and twice for the minutes. Yeah, I know it sounds weird, it’s a bit hard to explain..perhaps I’ll just put it in the next video.

I had a couple of people ask me, “.. why didn’t I just get a G-Shock?”

Well, the answer to that is simple. I think there’s a huge difference between being fashionable, and being trendy.

Being Trendy consists of:

Having the newest, coolest, most well known/expensive gear
Wearing cool brands because they’re considered cool brands
Rockin’ shit just like everybody else..

On the contrary, being Fashionable is more so:

Wearing the brands that you like, popular or not..
Combining elements from various styles
Finding shit that people aren’t really doing yet, and makin’ it sweet..

I’d rather hear: “Oh wow, what’s that?”

than

“Oh cool, is that a G-Shock? Check mine out too..”
